Caroline Beattie - Chair of Governors

Co-opted(parent), appointed 01/09/15

I am a busy mum of 3, one of which attend Arbourthorne Community Primary School.  I have been involved in school governance since 2007.  I serve as a Governor because I want to make a positive impact on the education of children in my community and Sheffield. 

 

Tim Bowman

I have been involved in governance for 3 years and enjoy using my skills as Head of Inclusion for Sheffield City Council to improve education outcomes for children. 

 

Paul Douglas

I have been a school governor for 5 years and have 2 children at Gleadless Primary School. During this time I have used my skills as Chief Operating Officer with Rotherham United FC to strengthen the Governing Body.

I volunteered to become a school governor so that I could help as many children as I could.  I enjoy seeing the children develop in their education.

I am a mum of 4 and a nan of 2.  My youngest 2 boys attend Arbourthorne Community Primary School.  I became a governor as the education of children is very important to me. I want to ensure our children get the best of what is available.

I have been involved in governance for 16 years and find it both a challenge and very rewarding. I find it a privilege to be involved in shaping children's education.

I am new to school governance but I got involved because I strongly believe that every child has the right to an education that allows them to achieve their best in a supportive and caring environment.

I became a governor as a result of the excellent links between Arbourthorne and Sheffield High School.  As a teacher, I want to raise children's aspirations so they reach their full potential.

I am committed to improving children's future chances and opportunities, especially through the use of modern technology.  As a staff governor, I believe we can provide first class opportunities for every child. 

 

David King - Vice Chair

I have been involved in education since 1969 and a governor for 16 years.  I feel the role of a school governor is very important in the development of the school and holding the school to account.

Having 2 children at Arbourthorne Community Primary School, I got involved in school governance as I was interested in how the school was run. I enjoy using the skills I have acquired at work to help the governing body.

I became a governor because I want the best for pupils and staff. I enjoy being part of the running and progression of the school.

I love taking an interest in what the children want out of school and also love to see them at their shows, prom and school events.
