School Priorities 2016-17

 

Development Plan 2016-17

What are we going to improve this year?

The main body of the plan addresses overarching targets for the school based on the broader outcomes of school self-evaluation. There are 6 overarching key priorities with sub priorities.

 

Key Priority 1: To secure outstanding Teaching and Learning

1.1 Literacy: To improve the quality of teaching and learning in identified aspects of literacy to ensure pupils attain higher standards ( see target setting: target getting)

1.2 Mathematics: To develop Year 2 of INSPIRE approach to teaching maths.

1.3 To develop children’s resilience through Building Learning Power and associated psychology strategies. Introduce Building Learning Power (BLP) strategies to develop resilience, resourcefulness and reciprocity.

1.4 To increase children’s memory skills in UKS2

1.5 To master the craft of teaching through coaching and peer critique

1.6 To upskill new staff in key approaches to teaching and learning to ensure high standards are met and continuity and consistency sustained.

1.7 Develop a climate of research and risk taking where pedagogy is enhanced through research

1.8 Work in partnership with key education establishments to strengthen the quality of teaching and learning, aspiration and ambition of pupils. Participate in year 2 of Kidzania careers and futures programme ‘

1.9 To develop staff subject knowledge into KS3

1.10 To further develop immersive learning environments

1.11 To further develop the learning challenge curriculum

1.12 to further improve home-school learning provision to support achievement of targets. Create a reinvigorated system for high quality, motivating home-school learning

 

 

Key Priority 2: To ensure high quality assessment procedures impact on successful outcomes for learners

2.1 To further improve the effectiveness of assessment systems revised in 2016-17

Simplify assertive mentoring (learning journey) folders and meetings so they have maximum targeted impact.

 

 

Key Priority  3: To secure outstanding Personal development Behaviour and Welfare

3.1 to introduce strategies to improve positive behaviour that are consistent across the federation

3.2 To further develop the curriculum at Red Robin House Life Skills Centre and secure emotional and social well-being

3.3 To ensure safeguarding and e safety continue to be outstanding

3.4 To further develop pupils’ social skills, values and attitudes through the provision of extended learning opportunities

3.5 To ensure attendance targets continue on an upward trend  and close the gap on National.

3.6 To extend and further develop mindfulness, health and wellbeing to improve lifestyle choices

 

 

Key Priority  4: To secure outstanding early Years Provision: the Quality and Standards

4.1To maximise opportunities for home learning.

4.2 To secure the core values as a behaviour systems from entry to school

4.3 To use observations and learning stories as an effective monitoring tool and to raise standards in literacy.

4.4 Effective assessment procedures in place to support learning and next steps.

4.5 To develop children’s lines of enquiry and curiosity, valuing the parent as a key participant in education.

4.6 To maximise learning opportunities in the outdoor environment.

4.7 To further develop the teaching of mathematics to ensure high expectations for all learners.

4.8 To ensure rigorous teaching and learning of phonics: letters and sounds

4.9 To increase the number of children achieving GLD in reading.

4.10 To increase the number of children achieving GLD in writing

4.11 To implement whole school approach to handwriting

4.12 To develop the memory skills of pupils

4.13 To implement coaching and quality CPD for FS practitioners; by FS practitioners

 

 

Key Priority  5: To secure outstanding leadership, management and governance across the federation at all levels

5.1 To raise awareness of strategies used by similar schools achieving expected outcomes in 2016

5.2 To challenge and support Teaching Assistants to ensure maximum outcomes for all learners

5.3 To further develop leadership through a range of training opportunities

5.4 To ensure the key strengths of the school are highlighted and visible in exemplifying the highest standards expected in the school.

5.5 To further develop the work of governors of the federation and meet the future needs of the school against the national agenda

5.6 To maximise opportunities to share excellence through cross school working and create capacity for succession planning.

5.7 To ensure staff have opportunities to visit outstanding schools beyond the city through SSAT membership/ NET.

5.8 To further develop pedagogical thinking and National Education Trust (NET) ‘Thinker in residence’ role.

5.9 To provide outstanding support for Teach First, Schools Direct, NQTs and RQTs
